Our Program: Academics

squash :: academics :: activities & community svc.

Academic tutoring and skill assistance are held at the University Church (5655 S. University Ave.). The Church provides us this space free of charge. Students spend at least 3 hours per week in the classroom.

The METROsquash academic curriculum is split into two key areas, homework help and skill assistance. In the homework lab, students receive help with their homework, and all METROsquash students are encouraged to spend time in the homework lab, even when it is not their scheduled METROsquash day. The METROsquash Skill Assistance Program is aimed at students who may be struggling in a particular core subject. The Skill Assistance Program prepares individualized curriculum in their weakest subjects for students based on yearly pre-testing. Additionally, the METROsquash academic curriculum also focuses on standardized test preparation and improving organizational and time management skills.

At METROsquash, time in the classroom is just as important as time on court. Students whose grades are suffering or who have not completed their homework do not play squash or travel to tournaments until their grades and assignments are up to speed.

Our primary academic goal is to assist students in attending top high schools and attending college. METROsquash provides support with the admission and financial aid process, and works with parents and students to facilitate a transformative shift in attitudes to academic horizons.
